DiSa Digital Safety Pte. Ltd. Partners with B&G International, Inc. to Offer a 2-in-1 Inventory Tracking and Return Fraud Prevention Solution to the Retailers in the United States of America

BENTONVILLE, ARKANSAS and SINGAPORE – 16 July 2024 – B&G International, Inc. (“B&G”), one of the global leaders in Radio Frequency Identification (“RFID”) system, and DiSa Digital Safety Pte. Ltd. (“DiSa”), an industry leader for digital security and authentication solutions, today announced a strategic partnership to help retailers in the United States of America (“USA”) to track inventory and to prevent return fraud. Through this partnership, the DiSa Single Scan Serialization (“3S”) Smart Barcode that uniquely identifies each item will be incorporated into B&G RFID system.

The use of RFID technology has expanded significantly with the growth of online retail sales and ordering. RFID technology facilitates inventory tracking by using electromagnetic fields to automatically identify and track items through the tags attached to it. Each B&G RFID tag contains a unique identifier that can be scanned remotely, allowing for efficient inventory management without human intervention. This technology enables real-time updates on inventory levels and location tracking.

DiSa 3S Smart Barcode allows for one single barcode to contain both the Universal Product Code (UPC) number and a serial number. Through integration with retailer servers, DiSa 3S solution is able to prevent fraudulent and abusive returns by tracking the 3S Smart Barcode through the retailer’s Point of Sale (POS) system by allowing genuine returns and rejecting fraudulent returns.

DiSa continues its innovation with B&G to create DiSa 3S RFID tag. DiSa and B&G have been working together to develop a 2-in-1 solution that combines the capabilities of both DiSa 3S Smart Barcode and B&G RFID tag to enable inventory tracking and the prevention of return fraud in a combined solution.

According to 2023 Consumer Returns in the Retail Industry report released by National Retail Federation and Appriss Retail in December 2023, the total returns in 2023 for the retail industry amounted to US$743 billion in merchandise1 . As a percentage of sales, the total return rate for 2023 was 14.5%.

“Despite the decrease in the total returns from US$816 billion in 2022 to US$743 billion in 2023, the retailers lost US$101 billion to return fraud in 2023 – 13.7% of total returns, up by 19% as compared to 2022 of US$84.9 billion2 . Preventing fraudulent and abusive returns has becoming more important than ever now.” Mr. Eddie Chng, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Group, added, “We are glad to partner with B&G to offer this 2-in-1 solution to the retailers to help them to track inventories and prevent return fraud as they continue to seek for new ways to minimize losses from return fraud.”

“Enabling the DiSa Smart Barcode on the RFID tag saves suppliers time and cost by allowing them to have placing only one tag on the product while getting the benefits of both solutions.” stated Dan Cunneen, the Director, RFID and EAS Sales at B&G, “Together with DiSa, we are offering this combined solution to the retailers nationwide as they are requiring RFID on more and more products to track inventories in the warehouse and store floor.”

DiSa Pioneers Program To Protect Mobile Phone Users Against E-Wallet Theft By Partnering With M1

Andrew Marketing

Bentonville, AR: Amid a rising trend in e-wallet theft worldwide, DiSa Limited, a Singapore-based digital security company, is launching a first-of-its-kind integrated mobile phone warranty program to protect phone users against cyber theft.

To be launched in April 2019, M1 will be the first telco in Singapore to offer DiSa’s Cyber Theft Warranty Program to its phone users.

In the event, if phone users suffer any financial losses resulting from theft of their e-wallets, they can make a claim on DiSa’s website for an amount up to the retail cost of the phone. Every phone under the warranty program will be tagged with DiSa’s 3S smart barcode.

Globally, there has been a spike in mobile cyber-crimes as smartphone penetration soars. According to RSA, a US-based global security and risk management company, more than 60% of online fraud is accomplished through mobile platforms and 80% of mobile fraud is achieved through mobile apps instead of mobile web browsers.

In a report on cyber threats, the World Economic Forum (WEF) noted that a prominent threat has emerged from the fact that most people are using their phones to manage financial operations or handle sensitive data outside the security of their home network. The fact that users typically hold all their information on their phone, and that smartphones are now used for two-factor authentication, increases the security risk if the device is lost or stolen.

DiSa’s Group Chief Executive, Eddie Chng, said, “DiSa is delighted to provide this unique Cyber Theft Warranty to M1 customers. With the proliferation of mobile payments, more and more phone users are finding themselves exposed to cyber-crimes, some at very sophisticated levels. DiSa is confident that our solution will give peace of mind to smartphone users and add value to M1’s services.”

M1’s Chief Corporate Sales and Solutions Officer, Willis Sim, said, “This partnership is part of our broader commitment to integrate technologies that can enhance our customers’ experience and of course, protect them from cyber risks. By partnering with a global leader like DiSa, we are confident to position M1 at the forefront of technologies that will enable the next generation of smart and cyber secure mobile devices.”

According to Worldpay’s Global Payment Report 2018, payment by e-wallets makes up 10% of all e-commerce spending in Singapore as it provides convenience and facilitates quick checkout. However, despite the country’s tech-savvy culture and high smartphone adoption rates, cyber-crime remains a mounting concern. Some 65% of the 2,035 respondents in a Cyber Security Agency of Singapore survey in 2017 expressed concern for cyber-security risks through infected computer and mobile devices by virus and malware, and 78% were concerned about their financial and personal information being obtained by others. Phishing where attackers pose as trusted entities to trick victims into parting with their personal data, remains the favorite tactic, with more than 23,000 phishing URLs with a Singapore-link detected.

DiSa’s secure asset protection solutions – the 3S Smart Barcode which prevents invalid returns and the Point-of-Sale Activation which protects against retail thefts – are the world’s first anti-theft protection technologies that use encrypted codes on consumer products.

The collaboration with M1 is a significant milestone for DiSa, as DiSa establishes its presence in Singapore. Since DiSa was launched in 2017, its solutions have been used by one of the world’s largest retailers and a world leader in navigation products, Garmin, which produces GPS navigation products, as well as Samsung, which taps DiSa’s Smart Lock protection for its Galaxy Tab A 8.0″ model.

Discover New Retail Technologies.

This past June, the National Retail Federation (NRF) hosted one of the largest annual AP/LP retail conferences. The event was attended by a majority of industry leaders. Retail giants like The Kroger Co, Office Depot, Verizon Wireless, and Home Depot took stage as keynote speakers, covering new and trending AP/LP topics. Vice President of Corporate Asset Protection at Hudson’s Bay Company says, “It’s an annual event and if you’re in this industry, you’re going to meet with the best of the best.”

NRF invited over 200+ exhibitors to participate. Exhibitors shared their new innovative solutions, including in-person booth demonstrations of the new or upcoming protection technologies. Alan Tague former VP, Loss Control Gander Mountain Company said, “The speakers are on point and very timely with today’s topics, and of course you have great content”

This year, the exhibitor floor was incredibly tech heavy, moving retail into a fully digital shopping experience. Exhibitor and tech startup DiSa showcased its new Smart Tag suite which includes Smart Checkout and Smart Gate solutions.

In short, Smart Tag uses standard RFID tags. This enables individual items to be tracked wirelessly and protected through each level of the supply chain – including post product manufacturing, distribution, in retail stores, and returned items.

In the first quarter of 2018, Digital Safety launched Smart ID (ProductIDLive.com), showcasing its highly robust and detailed analytics app for retailers and suppliers.

Raymond Darrell of Digital Safety reviewed the integration roll-out, explaining the pairing of Smart Tag suite with Smart ID. Smart Checkout shortens the checkout process to less than 30-seconds and simplifies the overall consumer shopping experience, rivaling Amazon’s hands-free GO concepts. Jeff Mitchell, Technical Account Manager at Digital Safety stated, “Removing employee cost, eliminating return fraud, and protecting individual items will benefit consumers by lowering cost-of-goods for consumers and will quickly increase retailers and suppliers return on investment.”

PoSA Protects Online PUT

DiSa USA Announces its Expansion to Online Retailers Starting with Walmart.com

Walmart is now officially enabling the DiSa Point-of-Sale Solution for all e-commerce transactions including pick-up today and ship-to-store for customer pickup.

Why is this breaking news important for Digital Safety and the online retail industry? Online shopping has increased by $120 billion from 2011 to 2016. This steady rise of online retail sales is continuing to grow at lightning speeds. Based on 2016 statistics from Forrester Research, over 55% of the United States population shop online, totaling 192 million people that spend an average of $1,738 per person annually.

To remain competitive, retail stores like Walmart have created the ease of ordering online via smart phones, tablets, and laptops. Over the past few months, the team at Digital Safety has been working diligently with Walmart to expand the DiSa PoSA technology from inside retail stores to Walmart’s online marketplace.

Today, DiSa proudly reports the integration of Point-of-Sale Activation (PoSA) with Walmart’s e-commerce platform. PoSa enabled products can now be ordered online at Walmart.com, ordered online for pick-up today (PUT), and ordered online for ship-to-store for customer pickup (BOPIS).

This new development is enticing to the retail community for more reasons than one. For the first time, retail stores will not only receive PoSA secured products within their brick and mortar retail facilities but moving forward, devices will stay safe through the entirety of the online ordering process. This includes PoSA protection during shipping and fulfillment, on the customers door step, and all-of-the-way until the customer has entered their activation code found on their emailed receipt.

The internet is a vast space that presents new territory for PoSA secured products to be sold and as the body of online consumers continue to grow, DiSa plans on expanding with them.

3S Smart Barcodes

Single Scan Serialization Is Now Adopted by Walmart

It was reported on Tuesday, October 21, 2017 that Digital Safety, more commonly known as DiSa is now releasing its 3S Smart Barcode technology within hundreds of Walmart locations across the United States.

In-less than one week, multiple suppliers have contacted (DiSa) Digital Safety and according to DiSa’s Walmart Account Director, Jacob Gulbransen the first supplier has already signed its contract. Estimates indicate that this ‘newly adopted’ industry standard will save countless hours per individual retail store, while providing highly detailed statistics previously not captured during checkout.

For decades, double-scan Serialization has been the ‘standardized tool’ providing unit-level data and analytics for products sold in stores. However, the double-scan process is slow, frequent and is proven to be a time-intensive, costly process.

Traditionally, the first UPC scan provides information such as name and cost of the product, while the second scan, which is the serialization label, supplies unit-specific information. This outdated process is being replaced with Digital Safety’s brand new 3S Solution.

First, 3S eliminates an entire scan per item, which makes the transaction more efficient for retailers and speeds up the shopping experience for consumers. Second, 3S offers a serious savings advantage for retailers by eliminating ‘return fraud’. Without 3S, stolen items may be returned to the retailer for store credit. 3S allows for a hard decline of all stolen product along with items past the return policy window. These added benefits will immediately save retailers like Walmart millions.

DiSa USA Advances GPS And Navigation Products To Open Sell Within 4,000 Plus Walmart Stores

Today, the technology leader in digital asset protection is publicly announcing their collaboration with the major players in the GPS and Navigation industry such as: Garmin, Magellan, TomTom, and Rand.

This past May, DiSa USA began by launching the open sell of tablets and rapidly revolutionized the retail industry and consumer shopping experience. Starting this September, top rated GPS and Navigation products will also be available in open sell format. For the very first time, retail consumers will have the ability to purchase Garmin, Magellan, TomTom, and Rand products directly off store shelves and will not be hindered by glass cases that require associate assistance. In turn, product sales are projected to increase, along with a reduction in labor costs.

What role does DiSa play in benefiting the GPS and Navigation product industry? Digital Safety Point-of-Sale Activation, known as PoSA, keeps products non-functional until the customer inputs a 1-time activation code found on their receipt. This solution is globally certified and proven to be hack resistant, reducing associate and external theft. The process captures purchase data in real-time, eliminating return fraud and allowing for a hard-decline by customer service. Without the code, the product will not work, creating it useless to shoplifters which makes the open sale environment possible.

It’s not the first time this year we’ve heard about Digital Safety. The technology DiSa USA has invented and implemented at manufacturing to store level is so ground breaking for product brands, retailers, and consumers that DiSa was awarded the highest honor in the asset protection community by the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA). RILA is the trade association of the world’s largest and most innovative retail companies. Its members include more than 200 retailers, product manufacturers, and service suppliers, which together account for more than $1.5 trillion in annual sales, millions of American jobs and more than 100,000 stores, manufacturing facilities and distribution centers domestically and abroad. This past April, DiSa surpassed its competitors and won the 2017 (R)Tech Asset Protection: Innovation Award.

What’s next for Digital Safety USA?

This landmark partnership between DiSa USA and the leaders of the GPS and Navigation industry is just the beginning of retail categories looking to secure their products with Digital Safety USA. CEO Adam Hartway from Scottsdale, Arizona says, “Over the upcoming months, we will continue to see growth from DiSa USA. From the number of retailers engaged and within future product categories like computing and video.” Adam goes on to share his excitement for the industry and his dedication to the asset protection community.
