1. The barcode is scanned at any POS register, including the return desk, just like a normal UPC
2. The retailer’s servers send the transaction to DiSa’s servers via API connection
3. DiSa validates the transaction and sends a response: approve or deny
4. For purchases, DiSa approves the transaction
5. For returns, DiSa checks the purchase record, never purchased means the return is denied
6. If the item was purchased but is past the return window, the return is denied
All communication between the retailer and DiSa happens within 50-300 milliseconds, virtually instantaneous.
